High School Theater, Art Exhibit and Classic Movie Screening

Here is a look at five things you should know about and might not want to miss this week:

Number one:

The Fort Lee Planning Board meets Monday at 7:30 p.m. in Borough Hall’s council chambers.

Fort Lee High School presents Rogers and Hammerstein’s The King and I Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. On Saturday there is also a 2 p.m. matinee performance. Tickets can be purchased at the door. Seniors and students $7, and adults are $10.
Number three:

On Monday and Tuesday the School No. 4 Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) Committee is sponsoring its annual “carnation-gram” sale to welcome spring. All of the proceeds will be donated to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to help children fighting cancer.  The cost: $2 per stem, and assorted colors are available.

Number four

Film buffs are in for a treat on Thursday when the Fort Lee Public Library will screen the 1965 film The Spy Who Came in from the Cold at 2 p.m. in the library meeting room. The film stars Richard Burton, Claire Bloom, Oskar Werner and Sam Wanamaker.

Also on Thursday at the Fort Lee Public Library in the meeting room Thursday is an artist’s reception for Joanne Hayes at 7 p.m. The artwork of Fort Lee’s own artist Hayes is on display at the library during the month of March. A graduate of the School of Visual Arts, Hayes’s paintings and drawings are exhibited in the Atrium Gallery. The showcase also features an exhibit of her sculpture, collages, and models. The show can be viewed during regular library hours: Monday-Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
