Last Chance: Take in a Fort Lee Girls Recreation Basketball Game

Championship games and festivities planned for Saturday and Tuesday.

The Fort Lee Girls Recreation Basketball League wraps up its season Saturday and next Tuesday, with a slate of championship and consolation games planned at the gym.

The “March Madness” comes to an end Saturday for girls in both the league’s 3rd/4th Grade Division and the 5th/6th Grade Division.

Here’s a rundown of Saturday’s festivities:

11 a.m. – Consolation game (3rd/4th Grade Division): Cafasso's Fairway Market vs. Craig Weinstein, Esq.

11:55 a.m. – National Anthem performed by a “special guest”

Noon – Championship game (3rd/4th Grade Division): Norm's Ice Cream vs. Starr, Darcy, & Starr

12:45 p.m. – Trophy ceremonies for all 3rd and 4th grade teams

1:15 p.m. – Consolation game (5th/6th Grade Division): Frank Patti vs. Tutor Doctor

2 p.m. – Championship game (5th/6th Grade Division): Pomodoro Pizza vs. Step Mar

Tuesday’s festivities, full details of which the Fort Lee Girls Recreation Basketball League will announce soon on its website, features a in the 7th/8th Grade Division between Silly Rabbits and Porter & Yee.

League president Michael Klein said Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich will toss up the opening tipoff to start Tuesday’s championship game, which starts at about 8:10 p.m.

“I'm really looking forward to a classic finale to end the 2012 season,” Klein said earlier in the week.
