The Fort Lee Planning Board met Monday for the second of four special public meetings beginning at the to detail its plans for the East parcel of Redevelopment Area 5.
At the first special meeting on Feb. 6, Fort Lee Redevelopment Associates (FLRA)’s application was revealed to be primarily residential, including two 47-story towers that will house a total of 902 units.
Each tower will feature a five-story, wrap-around parking garage with 630 parking spaces for the north tower and 589 for the south tower. The eastern parcel will also feature a landscaped, 1.7-acre public park with pedestrian walkways, a pond and a walkover bridge, and a refreshment kiosk, all of which will be donated to the borough.

Major concerns that emerged from the meeting—raised by both members Planning Board and public—included parking, traffic, noise for residents living nearby and how sunlight reflecting off the buildings would affect drivers.
Another concern residents have expressed is how a major influx of residents will impact the already overcrowded local school system—an issue that has yet to be discussed in detail, but most likely will in one of the two remaining public meetings (Feb. 27 and March 5).
