Taxes Due, Spring Break for Fort Lee Students
Here is a look at five things you should know about and might not want to miss this week:

Number one:
If you waited until the last minute to do your taxesβtraditionally due on April 15βand took advantage of Washington, D.C.βs celebrate of Emancipation Day this yearβwait not longer; todayβs the day. The United States Postal Service's Automated Postal Centers (APC) can help you get them postmarked byΒ 11:59 p.m. Monday.Β APC machines offer the convenience of performing simple mailing transactions, such as purchasing stamps and postage for express, First Class, priority, and package parcel post β 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
User-friendly touch screens walk you through the transaction, which usually take less than a minute to complete, USPS representatives told Patch. The machines take credit or debit cards only.

On Monday, select centers in Northern New Jersey will be staffed until midnight with supervisors available to assist customers with using APCs.Β The following post offices offer customers 24/7 access to postal services: Bridegwater, Clifton. East Brunswick, Edgewater, Edison, Edison Kilmer Lobby, Hillsborough, Kendall Park, Newark, Old Bridge, Paramus, Parsippany, Rahway, Ridgewood, Somerset, South Plainfield, Sparta, Summit and West Caldwell.

Number two:
This week is Spring Recess for all students in Fort Lee public schools. Thatβs something most parents are already aware of, but for those of you who arenβt parents, donβt be surprised to see school-aged children out and about town during normal school hours, and please donβt call the authorities to report them!
Number three:
Bloomfield College is looking for host families in Fort Lee for their homestay programβpart of the English teacher exchange program with Fort Lee Public Schools at the American Language Center. In addition Fort Lee Lee are invited to apply for a month in Korea this summer as guests of the National Institute for International Education of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Korea as part of the exchange. The Korean government will provide round-trip airfare, housing, all meals and cultural activities and visits. A maximum of five teachers from Fort Lee will be selected. Teachers who are interested in the opportunity are invited to call or see Superintendent Raymond Bandlow for more information or a personal interview.
Number four:Β
The Fort Lee Public Libraryβs annual book sale is Thursday and Friday. The library is also collecting donated booksβand is especially interested in receiving children's booksβcompact discs and DVDs. Donations can be made through May 1.
Number five:Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β
The Mayor and Councilβs executive session is Thursday at 7 p.m. in Borough Hallβs executive conference room 201. As is the case with most executive session, an immediate motion for closed session is likely with the meeting being reopened to the public 30 to 60 minutes later. Check the boroughβs website or drop by the borough clerkβs office Wednesday after about 3 p.m. if youβre interested in getting an agenda ahead of time. Also remember the governing bodyβs last executive meeting of two weeks ago was cancelled due to the lack of an agenda.
