What Impact Do You Think A Red Light Camera Enforcement Program Would Have in Fort Lee?

The Fort Lee Mayor and Council are considering whether to implement a red light camera enforcement program in the borough.
Recently, the boroughβs governing body invited representatives from American Traffic Solutions (ATS)βa company its attorney, Paul Kaufman, called βthe largest vendor of red light cameras in the country and the largest in New Jerseyββto an executive session to learn more about the services they offer.
While there was mention at the meeting of the positive effects mounting cameras at intersections would have on traffic and driving safety in the borough, much of the discussion was dominated by the revenue such a program would generate for the municipality.

Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich subsequently said the borough was in the βinfantileβ stages of considering the program, saying it was premature to say where they would mount cameras or even if they will move forward with ATS or any other company.
