FREEHOLD, NJ — If you’re like many of your Freehold neighbors, you may spend a good part of the holiday season with your credit card in hand buying gifts for family and friends. Coming up soon is a chance to give back to the local community.
Giving Tuesday, which in 2024 falls on Dec. 3, is a day dedicated to supporting nonprofit and community groups.
Since 2012, nonprofits worldwide have used the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to galvanize fundraising, rally volunteers and add momentum to their causes.

Maintaining funding is a constant challenge for many nonprofits that fill gaps and meet other needs in the Freehold area.

- LIV Like A Unicorn: Started in honor of Freehold resident Olivia Grace Lipnicky, who passed away from cancer in November 2019. The organization works to support families dealing with pediatric cancer and support cancer research.
- Freehold Area Open Door: Interfaith non-profit agency, food pantry and advocacy program.
- Marty’s Place Senior Dog Sanctuary: A non-profit dedicated to enhancing the lives fo senior dogs and ensuring that older dogs whose owners can no longer care for them will have a loving home for life.
- The Stephanie Nicole Parze Foundation: Started in honor of Freehold resident Stephanie Nicole Parze, who was murdered by her ex-boyfriend in 2019. The foundation aims to provide education, intervention and support to families and individuals dealing with domestic violence, sexual abuse and missing loved ones.
- The Well Spouse Association: Advocates for and addresses the needs of people caring for a chronically ill and/or disabled spouse or partner.
