'Black And White Cookie' By Center Players Presented In Freehold

FREEHOLD, NJ — "A Black and White Cookie," a new comedic drama being presented by the Center Players, explores timely issues through the eyes of two friends, one Black, one white.
Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. through Aug. 27.
The play is by Gary Morgenstein, who wrote the Perry Award-winning "A Tomato Can't Grow in the Bronx," and is directed by Center Players Artistic Director Bernice Garfield-Szita, the organization says.

Set in 2022 in New York City, the play portrays a friendship between two older men: Harold is an African American newsstand owner; Albie, a white social activist idealist, who has been his customer for eight years.
In the play, the two characters explore the bond that forms between them as they join to stand up and support each other against the pressures of their world through laughter and compassion.
