Former Freehold Township Educator Remembered
Robert (Bob) Francis Colangelo, was a former principal in Freehold Township, East Brunswick; Freehold Township resident for 33 years.
FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, NJ — Longtime area educator and school administrator Robert Francis Colangelo has died at 87, an obituary announced.
He had been a principal at Laura Donovan Elementary School and Dwight D. Eisenhower Middle School in the township before his retirement.
A former resident of Freehold Township for 33 years, Colangelo died in Naples, Fla., on Feb 16. A service will be held for him there on Feb. 27, the obituary said.

After military service in then-West Germany, Colangelo first resumed his career in East Brunswick Township in 1962, serving as a teacher, department chairman, assistant principal and principal there for 21 years.
He obtained a master's degree in School Administration from Seton Hall University and a doctoral degree from Rutgers University in Education.

He was principal of Churchill Junior High School and Bowne-Munro Elementary School in East Brunswick, and Laura Donovan Elementary School and Dwight D. Eisenhower Middle School in Freehold Township until retiring in 2000, his obituary said.
After retirement, Colangelo continued to be active in educational activities.
