Freehold Borough School District To Host Inaugural ‘Boro Back-To-School Bash’

FREEHOLD BOROUGH, NJ — The Freehold Borough School District is set to host its first-ever Boro Back-to-School Bash in September, the district recently announced.

From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6, the district will host their free and family-friendly event at the Park Avenue Complex in Freehold.

Organized in partnership with Bethel AME Church and the HOSA Fund, district officials said the event aims to bring the community together in celebration of the upcoming school year, while connecting families with local resources and support services.

With over 30 community organizations expected to attend, families will have access to a wide variety of information on educational programs, mental health resources, after-school opportunities, housing support and more.

  • Over 500 free bookbags filled with school supplies for students
  • Healthy snacks and refreshments for children and families
  • Games, raffles and family activities throughout the day
  • Opportunities to meet school staff and community leaders
  • Dozens of free teacher supply packs

“We are incredibly proud to bring together students, families, and local partners for a day of connection, celebration, and support,” Superintendent Asia Michael said. “The Boro Back-to-School Bash is about more than just fun — it’s about ensuring that every child starts the year ready, equipped, and excited to learn.”

The event will take place outdoors with accommodations made to move indoors if needed, district officials said.

All activities and giveaways are free of charge, and families from across Freehold Borough and Monmouth County are encouraged to attend.

“This event reflects the heart of our district — community, equity, and opportunity,” Board President Joseph Santonacita said. “We’re excited to welcome families and show them just how much support is available as we head into a new school year.”
