Freehold Borough saw a slight crime bump in February of this year when compared to 2012.
The New Jersey State Police Uniform Crime Reporting Unit has taken a significant step forward in reporting crime throughout the state. A link was placed on the public web site that connects users to very recent and comparative crime data for municipalities and counties. The data is updated every week, or as often as municipalities provide fresh numbers.
Data is compared to the same month of the previous year.

In Freehold Borough
Compared to February, 2012, crime in Freehold Borough increased 38.9 percent in the same month this year.

Overall, 25 incidents were reported this year while 18 were reported in 2012. The borough saw a slight increase in burglary with a total of three; one forcible, one unlawful and one attempted forcible.
Two aggravated assaults were also reported in Freehold Borough this year, in 2012 none were reported.
Non-violent crime in the borough decreased by 9.1 percent while violent crime increased 100 percent from two incidents in 2012 to four in 2013.
In Freehold Township
Crime reports for February 2013 has not been filed for Freehold Township Police at the time of this article. However, according to the data, crime did decrease in the township between January and February 2012 and January and February of 2013.
During that time frame in 2012, there were 170 incidents reported in the township, in 2013, only 81 incidents were reported.
