Guide To 9/11 Remembrance Ceremonies Planned In Monmouth County

On Thursday, towns throughout Monmouth County will honor those lost on Sept. 11, 2001. See where remembrance ceremonies are planned:

MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ — Towns and boroughs throughout Monmouth County will hold Day of Remembrance ceremonies on Thursday to honor those lost or affected by the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Ceremonies are scheduled to take place throughout the day, with community leaders, government officials, residents and more in attendance.

Here are the details on some of the ceremonies planned throughout Monmouth County:

Monmouth County

  • Time: 8 a.m.
  • Location: Mount Mitchill Scenic Overlook (460 Ocean Blvd., Atlantic Highlands)
  • Details: Join Monmouth County officials, family members of Monmouth County’s 9/11 victims and community members for the county’s annual 9/11 Memorial Ceremony.

Freehold Borough

  • Time: 8:15 a.m.
  • Location: Freehold Borough Hall (30 Mechanic Street, Freehold)
  • Details: All are welcome to join Freehold Borough for the 24th year commemoration of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Holmdel Township

  • Time: All-day
  • Location: Holmdel Town Hall (4 Crawfords Corner Road, Holmdel)
  • Details: While Holmdel Township won’t be holding a formal ceremony on Sept. 11, they’re inviting community members to place roses and candles on their Sept. 11 memorial at Town Hall.

Manalapan Township

  • Time: 6:30 p.m.
  • Location: Manalapan Township 9/11 Memorial (120 Route 522, Manalapan)
  • Details: Join Manalapan Township for a candlelight ceremony to remember the heroes, volunteers and victims who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001.

Marlboro Township

  • Time: 8:30 a.m.
  • Location: Marlboro 9/11 Memorial (Recreation Way, off Wyncrest Road)
  • Details: Join Marlboro Township officials, family members of those who lost their lives in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, community members and more at Marlboro Township’s 2025 Patriot Day Ceremony.

Colts Neck Township

  • Time: 6 p.m.
  • Location: Town Hall Memorial Garden (1 Veterans Way, Colts Neck)
  • Details: Join Colts Neck Township for their 9/11 Commemorative Service at the Town Hall Memorial Garden.

Borough of Red Bank

  • Time: 9:30 a.m.
  • Location: Riverside Gardens Park (Red Bank, NJ)
  • Details: Join Red Bank for their 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony honoring the victims, first responders, and all those impacted by the events of Sept. 11, 2001.

Shrewsbury Borough

  • Time: 5 p.m.
  • Location: Manson Park Gazebo (Shrewsbury, NJ)
  • Details: Join the Shrewsbury Mayor and Council for their annual 9/11 Ceremony as they remember the lives of those lost and honor the courage of emergency personnel and citizens on Sept. 11, 2001.

Fair Haven

  • Time: 8:45 a.m.
  • Location: Memorial Park (749 River Road, Fair Haven)
  • Details: Join Mayor Halpern and other Fair Haven officials for a period of silent reflection at the 9/11 Memorial in Memorial Park on Thursday.

Borough of Manasquan

  • Time: 7 p.m.
  • Location: Squan Plaza (Manasquan, NJ)
  • Details: Join the Manasquan Fire Department, local first responders and more to honor the memory of those who perished on Sept. 11, 2001.

Long Branch

  • Time: 9 a.m.
  • Location: Long Branch Municipal Building (344 Broadway, Long Branch)
  • Details: Join the Long Branch City Council, Mayor John Pallone, Senator Vin Gopal, Assemblywomen Margie Donlon and Luanne Peterpaul, and the President of the NJ Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association for the city’s Sept. 11 Memorial Service.

Borough of Matawan

  • Time: 6 p.m.
  • Location: Matawan Memorial Park (Main & Broad Streets)
  • Details: Join Matawan Borough Emergency Services for the borough’s annual 9/11 Memorial Service to honor the Matawan residents lost on Sept. 11, 2001, and others who perished on that day.

Aberdeen Township

  • Time: 10 a.m.
  • Location: Aberdeen Town Hall (1 Aberdeen Square, Aberdeen)
  • Details: Join Mayor Tagliarini, the Township Council, Town Manager Bryan Russell and more for their 9/11 Memorial service to honor and remember the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001.

Howell Township

  • Time: 6 p.m.
  • Location: 9/11 Memorial Monument (251 Preventorium Road, Howell)
  • Details: Join Howell Township in remembering those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001, and the events of the tragic day.

Middletown Township

  • Time: 7 p.m.
  • Location: World Trade Center Memorial Gardens (36 Church Street, Middletown)
  • Details: Join Middletown for a moment of silence and wreath tribute to honor the Middletown friends and neighbors lost on Sept. 11, 2001.
