Letter Praises Freehold Twp. Students For Alzheimer's Walk Efforts
The Freehold Township High School Peer Leadership group took part in the walk in late September.

The following letter to the editor was submitted on behalf of the Southern Regional Walk to Fight Alzheimer's:
As committee chair of the Southern Regional Walk to Fight Alzheimer’s for Alzheimer’s New Jersey, I would like to thank everyone from Monmouth County who joined us in Point Pleasant Beach on Saturday, September 23rd to help fight Alzheimer’s disease in our state.
Over 2,000 people, including those with Alzheimer’s and their caregivers, volunteers from the entire community, as well as corporate and local business sponsors made this event a huge success on a beautiful day at the Jersey Shore.

Alzheimer’s disease is often incorrectly linked to the normal aging process. While age is certainly the greatest risk factor, we know that aging alone does not bring about the disease. In addition to those with Alzheimer’s, caregivers of all ages are impacted. That is why we were thrilled to have many local high school and university students join us at the event.
I especially want to recognize the Freehold Township High School Peer Leaders who added such great energy and enthusiasm to our walk. With the support of teacher, Sean Leahy, students in the Peer Leadership program have volunteered with us for years in addition to raising tens of thousands of dollars for Alzheimer’s New Jersey programs and services that assist the far too many New Jersey families that face this difficult disease. Their support and dedication is outstanding.
