Monmouth County High Schools Among Top 25 In NJ For 2025-26: U.S. News & World Report

Nearly 24,000 public high schools were evaluated for the list, and nearly 18,000 were ranked. See which Monmouth County schools were named:

MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ — U.S. News & World Report has released its latest rankings of the best high schools in New Jersey, and four Monmouth County schools made the list.

The 2025-2026 Best High School Rankings, released Tuesday, includes specialized STEM and charter rankings alongside the traditional state, district, and metro area categories.

Nearly 24,000 public high schools were evaluated, and nearly 18,000 were ranked.

The Monmouth County high schools that made the Top 25 in New Jersey are:

  • 1. High Technology High School: 765 Newman Springs Road, Lincroft (Monmouth County Vocational School District)
  • 6. Biotechnology High School: 5000 Kozloski Road, Freehold (Monmouth County Vocational School District)
  • 11. Marine Academy of Science & Technology: 305 Mast Way, Highlands (Monmouth County Vocational School District)
  • 15. Academy of Allied Health & Science: 445 Scotland Road, Neptune (Monmouth County Vocational School District)

Each of the Monmouth County schools named among the Top 25 high schools in New Jersey are part of the Monmouth County Vocational School District, which is comprised of six full-time, four-year career academies.

Created in 1958 to provide career and technical education to the county’s residents, the school district is made up of:

  1. The Academy of Allied Health & Sciences: Preparation for careers in the health sciences.
  2. The Academy of Law & Public Safety: Training in public safety and criminal justice.
  3. Biotechnology High School: Hands-on experience in cutting-edge laboratory techniques.
  4. Communications High School: Focus on media, journalism and communication technologies.
  5. High Technology High School: Advanced engineering concepts and practical applications.
  6. The Marine Academy of Science & Technology: Unique opportunities for fieldwork in local marine environments.

In the 2025-26 Best High Schools list, national rankings identified top public schools based on six key performance indicators: college readiness, college curriculum breadth, state assessment proficiency, state assessment performance, underserved student performance and graduation rate.

The rankings considered curriculum breadth and overall student outcomes as well. U.S. News worked with RTI International, a global research firm, to implement the comprehensive ranking methodology, using the most current data from the 2022-2023 school year.
