Nonprofit Joins Lineup For Freehold Food Truck Festival

FREEHOLD, NJ — United Way of Monmouth and Ocean Counties are teaming up with the nonprofit food truck Food for Thought to serve meals during the United for Impact Food Truck Festival.

The festival will take place on West Main Street in Freehold on April 24 from noon to 6 p.m. According to a spokesperson, the event will take place rain or shine.

Guests will enjoy great food, beer, vendors and live music from local bands The Joe Baracata Band, Eddie Testa Band and Step Aside. Food for Thought is one of nine food trucks serving at the event, but it is the only one that is run as a nonprofit.

Food for Thought, based in Asbury Park, which has a higher unemployment rate than the national average, provides work opportunities for local youth and community members to improve their skills and prepare them for future careers.

“Food for Thought is committed to uplifting our community through culinary arts, non-profit collaboration and workforce development,” said Mike Castellano, Executive Director of Food for Thought.

Entrance to the festival is free, but guests are encouraged to make a $5 donation to support United Way's mission of closing gaps in education, financial stability, and health for everyone in the community.
