Obituary: Bruce L. Lykes, 82

Lykes was a Freehold native, and a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force.

Bruce L. Lykes, 82, of Freehold died Monday, January 2, 2012 at home.  Lykes was born in Freehold and was a lifelong resident.

Lykes served in the U.S. Air Force from 1948 until his honorable discharge in 1952 with the rank of Staff Sergeant.

He began his career with the New Jersey Turnpike Authority in 1956 as a toll collector and retired in 1986 as the Assistant Chief of Section 2.

Surviving are his five children, Bruce, Karen, Clair, Leslie, and Glenn, three brothers; two sisters; eleven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a devoted and loving friend, John Smith.

Visiting hours will be held at the , 20 Center Street, Freehold on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 11:00 a.m. followed by interment at , Freehold.
