After 60 Years, Beloved South Jersey Bar To Close Its Doors

The iconic Tilton Inn, an Egg Harbor Township staple for decades, is closing at the end of April.

EGG HARBOR TWP., NJ — After more than 60 years of serving the community, a local favorite bar and restaurant is set to close its doors permanently.

Owners of the Tilton Inn in Egg Harbor Township confirmed the latest rumors about their closing in a recent social media post, thanking their customers for decades of support.

"At this time, we have decided it is time for our family to close those doors," owners wrote. "Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to our incredible staff and loyal customers."

Their last day is April 27. A reason for the closure was not given.

The building at 6283 Tilton Road is listed for sale at $2,925,000, though the liquor license is not included.

Hundreds of comments flooded the Tilton Inn's social media, where longtime diners shared stories of the bar. Many likened it to a real-life "Cheers," saying everyone at the Tilton Inn knows your name.
