Best Italian Subs Are In These 2 Atlantic County Spots: Report

A report from Mashed lists the best Italian subs in the entire country. Two of them are in Atlantic County.

ATLANTIC COUNTY, NJ — Do you call it a hoagie or a sub? No matter what, everyone can agree that the best ones are here in New Jersey. And there's nothing more classic than a delicious Italian sub. A recent report by Mashed lists the 15 best Italian subs in the U.S. And not only are two of them in NJ - they're right here in Atlantic County.

According to Mashed, the best Italian subs are at Sugar Hill Sub Shop in Mays Landing and White House Sub Shop, which has two Atlantic City locations.

Mashed gives a shoutout to Sugar Hill Sub Shop's "Italian Stallion," which has a combination of black pepper ham, prosciutto and Italian genoa salami. Served on a half Atlantic City sub roll, the sandwich also comes with smoked provolone, lettuce, tomato, onions and your choice of oil and vinegar or mayo.

"Resembling a gas station stop on the outside, those on the road won't want to drive past," wrote Mashed. "On the inside, visitors will find a dizzying array of sandwiches, all big enough to feed a whole party without the hefty costs of other hero shops."

White House Subs is an Atlantic City favorite, Mashed said, serving the community for over 80 years. "When it comes to the best Italian sub in the U.S., Jersey's White House Sub Shop has the sandwich, and the history, on its side," wrote Mashed.

Their White House Special is an absolutely massive sandwich - it comes with triple the salami, capicola, ham and provolone. The whole sandwich costs almost $20, but with that amount of food, it can serve many, according to Mashed.
