Galloway Man Charged In Fatal 2019 Boat Crash
A Galloway Township man was charged with aggravated manslaughter in connection with a boat crash that killed a 39-year-old woman in 2019.

GALLOWAY, NJ — A Galloway Township man faces charges in connection with a boat crash that killed a 39-year-old woman in July 2019, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.
On Monday, members of the U.S. Marshals NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force - Atlantic City Division arrested Arthur Lesbirel, 45, and charged him with aggravated manslaughter, Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Cary Shill said Tuesday.
The charge stems from a boat crash that happened on July 21, 2019 on the Intercoastal Water Way in Galloway.

An investigation determined that Lesbirel was operating the boat recklessly, causing Iesha Thies, 39, of Mays Landing, to be ejected from the boat, Shill said.
While in the water, the boat’s engine propeller struck Thies, causing fatal injuries. Thies was pronounced dead at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center – City Division.

Lesbirel has been lodged at the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a detention hearing.
The New Jersey State Police Marine Unit investigated the incident with assistance from the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Collision Investigation Unit.
