Galloway Man In Critical Condition After Striking Pole

James P. Ireland Jr., 36, was injured when his motorcyle left the roadway, police said

GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, NJ - A township man is in critical condition after his Kawasaki motorcycle struck a pole and a sign on Tuesday morning, township police said.

James P. Ireland Jr., 36, was driving his motorcycle northbound at the intersection of New York Road and East Brook Lane when he failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway to the right, then struck a sign and utility pole, police said.

Ireland was taken to Atlanticare Regional Medical Center – City Division, in critical condition. The roadway was closed for 3.5 hours.

The Galloway Township Ambulance Squad, AtlantiCare Medics and the Bayview Volunteer Fire Company assisted.
