Galloway Police Locate Missing Man, 85, One Mile From Home
Man was missing for about 45 minutes and was wearing pajamas when he was found.

GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, NJ - Galloway police were able to find a missing 85-year-old Oxford Court man in less than an hour after his disappearance was reported, according to a police report.
Police responded to the home on Sunday, Dec. 3 and were told that the man, who had dementia, had disappeared about 45 minutes before he went missing.
Police, Galloway Township Fire Department members, Galloway EMS, K-9 units and other police departments immediately began to search and used the parking lot of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help as a command post.

Officer Jeremy Feliciano located the man about a mile away from his home, the report states.
Police remind residents that the Atlantic County Sheriff's Office offers "Project Lifesaver" to help locate victims of Alzheimer's Disease, dementia, Down's syndrome or autism who may have gone missing. People in the program are given a personalized identification bracelet that emits a tracking signal. Search and rescue teams can then search using a mobile locater tracking system.

The bracelet is a one-ounce battery-operated radio transmitter that emits an automatic tracking signal every second, 24 hours a day. The signal can be tracked on the ground or in the area over several miles. Each bracelet has a unique radio frequency that allows the search team to positively locate and identify the person who as wandered away from their home or care facility.
