Pedestrian Struck, Killed While Crossing South Jersey Highway: Police
The woman was trying to cross Black Horse Pike in an area without crosswalks when she was fatally struck, police said.
HAMILTON TWP., NJ — An Atlantic County woman was struck and killed Wednesday night while trying to walk across Black Horse Pike, Hamilton Township police said.
Police responded to the 6000 block of Black Horse Pike at about 7:38 p.m. Wednesday for a pedestrian-involved crash.
A 2021 Hyundai Tucson, driven by a 56-year-old Pittsgrove woman, was heading west in the right-hand lane when it struck a 48-year-old Buena woman who was crossing the road, police said.

That area has no designated crosswalks, police said.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene; the driver was uninjured, police said.

Part of the road was closed for several hours Wednesday night for the investigation.
An investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Township of Hamilton Police Department.
