Pleasantville Super Charged With Child Porn Used School Computer

MAYS LANDING - The principal of Pleasantville High School who was recently charged with multiple counts of possession and distribution of child pornography used a school computer issued to him by the district, reports say.

Edward Bonek, 48, was arrested on Thursday morning after authorities executed a search warrant at his Absecon home, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner has said.

Bonek was charged with possession of child pornography, distribution of child pornography, possession with intent to distribute child pornography, maintaing a file sharing program making child pornography available for distribution and official misconduct, Tyner said.

More than 1,000 images were found on the school issued computer,which lead to the charges being upgraded to first degree, according to breakingac.com.

Although the Prosecutor's Office did not identify Bonet's position on its Facebook page, other media outlets, including breakingac.com have.

Bonek had his first appearance via video in court on Thursday. Authorities upgraded the charges after number of pornographic images was determined.

He will be held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility until Tuesday, when he has detention hearing scheduled to determine whether or not he will be released.
