South Jersey School Employee Sexually Assaulted Child: Prosecutor

Darnell Williams, a former Hamilton Township School District employee, touched the child under 13 earlier this year, officials said.

MAYS LANDING, NJ — A South Jersey school district employee is accused of sexually assaulting a child under the age of 13, Atlantic County authorities said.

Darnell Williams, 34, was taken into custody near his home in Whiting Thursday following a report made earlier this year, Hamilton police said. Williams worked as a supervisor of special projects at Hamilton Township School District; he was placed on leave when the investigation began and then fired, according to the Press of Atlantic City.

Williams, while employed by the school district, sexually touched a minor child who was under his care on Feb. 21, 2025, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.

He was charged with second-degree sexual assault of a victim under the age of 13, second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, and second-degree official misconduct.

Williams was taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility where he is pending a detention hearing.

According to state records, Williams previously was employed by the Stafford Township School District.

He was once named a "Digital Innovator" by NJ PBS, where he recorded educational videos that are still available online.
