Teen Stabbed Mom To Death In South Jersey Condo, Authorities Say

The 17-year-old Mays Landing boy was charged with murder after his mother was found with multiple stab wounds, officials said.

MAYS LANDING, NJ — A Mays Landing teenager is accused of stabbing his mother to death, authorities said.

The 17-year-old, whose name was not shared as he is a minor, is charged with murder in the death of 49-year-old Julissa Serrano, also of Mays Landing, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said.

It was just after 6 p.m. Saturday when the Hamilton Township Police Department received a 911 call about a teen boy with a knife, authorities said.

Police went to the Meadowbrook Condos in the Mays Landing section of the township and found Serrano with "multiple stab wounds," officials said.

Serrano was hospitalized, where she died from her injuries, authorities said. Her cause and manner of death are pending an autopsy.

Her son was charged with murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon. He was taken to Harborfields Atlantic Youth Center pending his first court appearance.

The death remains under investigation.
