11 Cars Damaged, Inaccessible When Pole Snaps At Wedding Venue In Camden Co.: Police

A leaking transformer and live wires came down on several vehicles while an event was underway at the venue, authorities said.

BERLIN, NJ — Several vehicles were damaged when a utility pole snapped outside a wedding venue Saturday night in Camden County, authorities said.

The pole snapped in half around 7 p.m. and came down on the property of Paris Caterers — a wedding and event venue in Berlin — police said. Live wires and a leaking transformer came down with it.

Eleven vehicles were damaged and/or inaccessible until Atlantic City Electric cleared the scene and deemed it safe, police said. Some people got rides to leave the location before the scene was cleared.

Nobody was inside the vehicles, and no injuries were reported.

Paris Caterers lost power while an event was underway, police said.

No vehicle or person made contact with the pole, and it's unclear what caused it to snap, police said Monday morning.

"We want to thank our public safety partners for assisting with maintaining the scene, while allowing the event inside to continue as best as it could," said Berlin Police.

Paris Caterers is located at 281 Cross Keys Rd.
