2 Cop Injured From Chasing Down Suspect In Gloucester Twp: Police

The juvenile suspect was trying to break into vehicle, police said.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — Two officers were hurt while arresting a boy who was trying to burglarize cars Friday night in Gloucester Township, authorities said.

Police were responding to a report of "suspicious individuals" examining parked vehicles in the township's Millbridge neighborhood around 11:50 p.m., police said. At the scene, they found a juvenile male hiding behind a boat that was parked in a resident's driveway.

The boy ignored officers' verbal commands and ran away. The officers "pursued the suspect, closing the distance and subduing him," according to Gloucester Township Police.

During the apprehension, one officer injured his knee and back, while a second officer injured his hand, police said. They both received medical attention at a local hospital.

The juvenile was charged with criminal attempted burglary, aggravated assault on law enforcement, and resisting arrest. He was released to his mother.
