6 Candidates Run for 3 Township BOE Seats

Three incumbents are running for re-election for Gloucester Township's K-8 district.

Tuesday's deadline for candidates to file for the Nov. 5 school board election produced a crowded field in Gloucester Township.

Six candidates are running for three, three-year terms on the board.

The three incumbents running for reelection are William Collins, Linda Gilch and Ellen Reese. The three challengers are Richard Bobbe, Dominic Gagliardi and Sean Hengst. Collins is the board president.

A contentious, yearlong contract negotiation with township teachers and school performance reports have stirred public criticism of the current board.

A tentative teacher contract settlement was reached last week. The board also approved the hire of a curriculum consultant to align township schools with new state standards. That hire was also criticized by some.
