Blackwood Christmas Parade Returns To Gloucester Twp. Saturday

After a hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Blackwood Fire Company's annual Christmas Parade returns Saturday night.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — The Blackwood Fire Company's 32nd annual Christmas Parade returns this weekend.

The parade steps off at 6 p.m. Saturday night at Davistown Road and the Black Horse Pike, according to the fire department. The parade proceeds north through Downtown Blackwood to Church Street. It is expected to conclude at 8 p.m.

During the parade, the Black Horse Pike will be closed in both directions between Church Street and Davistown Road, according to Gloucester Township police. Davistown Road will also be closed between the Black Horse Pike and Argyle Avenue.

Heavy pedestrian traffic is expected in the area of the Black Horse Pike. Drivers are advised to use caution when in the area and to expect minor delays.

The detour route is East Church Street to Erial Road, then make a right on College Drive. Alternately, drivers can use Lakeland Road to Woodbury-Turnersville Road to Blackwood-Barnsboro Road to Church Street.

Officers will be on location at both closure points to help drivers. However, to avoid delays, police advise drivers to plan ahead and seek an alternate route.

"Afterwards, feel free to stop in and visit Santa, get some hot chocolate and cookies at the firehouse," the fire department said. "Awards will also be announced at the firehouse as well."

Anyone who wishes to participate can register that night at the C.W. Lewis School, 875 Erial Road, time to be announced. There will be no pre-registration.
