BOE Approves New Service Workers Contract

The agreement with Gloucester Township schools support staff includes increases at the top of salary ranges.

The Gloucester Township Board of Education unanimously approved a new contract for its service workers this week.

The group, which includes cafeteria workers, bus drivers and maintenance and other support staff, had been working under the terms of an expired agreement for more than a year. Details of the agreement were not immediately released after it was approved Monday, but both sides said the top of salary grades received increases.

"It was a long haul but we got together with the board after the teachers settled their contract and came to an agreement," said Kimberly Hamilton, a bus driver and president of the support professionals union.

The board approved a new pact for teachers in June. They had worked for nearly a year under an expired contract, as well. Both deals run through June of 2015.
