Fire Destroyed Police Officer's Home In Gloucester Twp.
Ofc. Salomon Andre and his wife had just moved in there and welcomed a newborn baby. Now, they're living in a hotel and starting anew.
GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — A fire that destroyed a home this week in Gloucester Township belonged to a Camden County police officer and his family.
Salomon Andre, a Camden County Police Department officer, lost his house in a fire Tuesday afternoon in Clementon. Andre and his wife, Dajshia Gibson, moved there in July — just before having a newborn baby.
No one was hurt, and no one was home during the fire except the family dog, who was rescued. But Andre and his family have been staying in a hotel, preparing for a holiday season away from home.

"Our new home held so many memories in such a short time, and we're heartbroken to see it all gone," Gibson said in a GoFundMe post. "We've lost furniture, clothes, baby essentials, and the foundation we were building for our family."
The CCPD's union has donated $1,000 to the family so they can buy essentials lost in the fire. FOP Lodge 218 will raise additional funds as Andre's family navigates the insurance process, including paying deductibles to recoup costs from the fire.

"After speaking with the membership it was easy for us to ensure he had funds to move forward," said Det. Daniel Irizarry, the union president. "That said, we believe his family will need more for bare necessities while they rebuild from this and will also need funds for additional upcoming insurance costs to get their lives back on track and care for their newborn."
The GoFundMe, which is helping the family rebuild their lives, has raised about $7,100 toward its $20,000 goal as of this writing. Click here to donate.
