Fire District Elections Held Today

Fire elections will be held for Gloucester Township's six fire districts on Saturday, Feb. 16.

Polls will be open at the six fire stations from 2 to 9 p.m.

Below is a rundown of the candidates for fire commissioner and proposed tax levy amounts for each district.

District 1: Incumbents Woody Minner and Phil Knast and challenger Nicholas Giambri are running for two three-year terms on the Board of Commissioners.

Glendora voters are also being asked to support a $297,900 tax levy for the all-volunteer company—an increase of $11,500 from 2012.

District 2: Incumbent Kevin J. Donahue and newcomers Joseph A. Reichert and Craig R. Watkins are seeking two three-year terms on the Board of Commissioners.

Chews Landing voters are also being asked to support a $1,632,130 tax levy for 2013—the same levy as 2012.

District 3: Incumbents Amy Tarves and Leo Foglio are running unopposed for two new three-year terms on the Board of Commissioners.

Blenheim voters are also being asked to approve a $371,847 tax levy for the all-volunteer company in 2013—an increase of just $5,826 from 2012.

District 4: Incumbent John McCann is running unopposed for a new three-year term on the Board of Commissioners.

Blackwood voters are also being asked to approve a $1,095,840 tax levy for 2013—a decrease of $7,864 from 2012.

District 5: Incumbents Richard Baker and Anthony Tomasco are running unopposed for two new three-year terms on the Board of Commissioners.

Lambs Terrace voters are also being asked to support a $1,399,256 tax levy—an increase of $24,933 from 2012.

District 6: Incumbents Joseph C. Chew and Steven M. Funkhouser are running unopposed for two new three-year terms on the Board of Commissioners, while incumbent Richard W. Annacone Jr. is the lone person seeking a two-year unexpired term.

Erial voters are also being asked to support a tax levy of $1,278,602—an increase of $14,219 as compared to 2012.
