Quamine Nokes was very uncooperative with officers and he initially denied being involved in accident, but later admitted to not being injured as a result of the crash. He was actively bleeding from both legs and appeared to be intoxicated. Quamine Nokes refused to identify himself and grew more belligerent towards the officers. He continually attempted to walk away from the scene several times and failed to heed to the officer’s commands to stop. Officers then attempted to place Quamine Nokes under arrest for Obstruction of Justice; however, he pushed and pulled away from officers. Officers attempted to de-escalate the situation with him, but again he refused to heed to the officer’s commands and grabbed one officer by the collar before being escorted into the rear of a marked patrol unit. Two officers sustained minor injuries due to Quamine Nokes resisting arrest. Once inside the vehicle, Nokes began kicking the doors with both feet, causing the door frame of the vehicle to be damaged. Upon being removed from the patrol car, he began spitting on several officers and attempted to bite officers several times.

Quamine Nokes was charged with Obstruction of Justice (Disorderly Persons Offense), Resisting Arrest (3rd Degree), 2 Counts of Aggravated Assault on Police (3rd Degree), Criminal Mischief (3rd Degree), and 2 Counts of Throwing Bodily Fluids (4th degree). Quamine Nokes was transported to JFK Hospital for treatment and medical clearance.
