Township Special Parents & Kids Network Scheduled to Meet Wednesday
The Gloucester Township group seeks to provide resources for families who care for special needs individuals.

A meeting of the Gloucester Township Special Parents & Kids Network is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the courtroom of the Municipal Building on Chews Landing Road.
"The group is a township-supported, parent-directed, parent-to-parent support, education and information group that firmly believes that providing events and re-sources for families who care for special needs individuals is important to enhancing the lives of those individuals and their families," a statement on the township website said. " We are committed to building a network of resources, socialization opportunities, continuing education and support to children of all ages with special needs, their families and caregivers. Additionally, this group acts as a means to provide awareness of the importance of social integration of our children into the general population using opportunities to educate others and create overall societal acceptance."
Judy Guido, a leader of the group said upcoming events, including one this weekend, highlight the types of activities they sponsor.
"We have an event called "Just Roll With It" Saturday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the GT Recreation Center, which is basically a program of getting the kids moving to upbeat music. (hula hooping, galloping, walking, skipping, waving scarves, use of a parachute, etc.). We also have a Bounce U event scheduled in December and a tween/teen dance in January."
