Graffiti Popping Up Along Blackwood Clementon Road, Surrounding Area

Graffiti has also been spotted along Kelly Drivers Lane.

Police are hopeful someone will be able to help put an end to graffiti that has spread along Blackwood Clementon Road in recent months.

This particular style of graffiti began popping up in early November when, over a three-day period, black, bubble letters that seem to spell "JRDS" was discovered on the sides of buildings and fences north of Blackwood Clementon Road.

Police received more than 20 reports of such vandalism at that time.

The graffiti artist, or artists, slowed for a while, but "JRDS" and similar graffiti tags have reemerged in recent weeks, according to police.

Patch found "JR" and other graffiti spray-painted on the former Denny's building and on buildings in Commerce Square and Commerce Plaza Wednesday afternoon.

Police do not believe the graffiti is gang-related.

"We have seen some gang graffiti on a small-scale basis, but that's not what we have here in this case," Gloucester Township Police Chief W. Harry Earle said Thursday.

Earle recalled a similar rash of graffiti along Blackwood Clementon Road three to four years ago. That case ended with an arrest, he said.
