‘Large’ Fuel Spill In South Jersey Prompts Hazmat Response
A crash involving an armored truck carrying "precious cargo" resulted in a large diesel fuel spill Thursday afternoon, officials said.
GLASSBORO, NJ - A Glassboro crash involving an armored truck carrying “precious cargo” resulted in a “large diesel fuel spill” Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
The crash, which took place on North Delsea Drive (SR 47) outside the Italian Affair restaurant, prompted an emergency road closure of the main road as well as between William Dalton Drive and Charles III Drive, according to a statement from Gloucester County Emergency Management. Two individuals with minor injuries were taken to an area hospital.
No storm drains or waterways have been deemed impacted, GCOEM said.

County officials coordinated with Glassboro OEM, private clean-up organizations and the responsible party to reopen the roadway, GCOEM said.
“There are no reported issues with the precious cargo at this time,” GCOEM said.

Glassboro Police Department is handling the ongoing accident investigation.
