The driver was extricated and brought to the hospital.
GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — A driver was extricated from their vehicle and hospitalized after a crash that caused a major gas leak Tuesday night in Gloucester Township, officials said.
The one-car crash happened around 8:15 p.m. on Sicklerville Road. The vehicle drifted off the roadway, hit several street signs and then collided with the concrete footing of the Route 42 overpass, police said.
The car continued to scrape along the concrete footing for the entire length of the overpass before ultimately striking a South Jersey Gas main, authorities said. The impact led to a "substantial" gas leak, according to police.
