Man Arrested In Gloucester Twp. Charged In Robberies in 2 States

A man accused of robbing a Gloucester Township 7-11 has been charged in a string of robberies in South Jersey, and one in Pennsylvania.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — A Philadelphia man has been charged in connection with a series of robberies in two states, including one in Gloucester Township, police announced.

John Grubbs, 44, was nabbed after an armed robbery at a 7-11 on Church Street in the Blackwood section of the township last month, according to Gloucester Township police.

Police said he entered the store at just after 5 a.m. on Nov. 9 and used a gun to steal cash from the clerk. He then fled the scene, police said. No one was injured.

Using local and national Automated License Plate Readers (ALPR), Gloucester Township police said they discovered that a car similar to the one associated with this robbery was used in a similar robbery in Bensalem, Pennsylvania.

Police used this information to ultimately identify and charge Grubbs in both robberies, as well as robberies in Evesham, Mount Holly and Pitman.

Grubbs is also suspected in several additional robberies throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania, which are currently under investigation, police said.

Grubbs was charged with second-degree robbery, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, and second-degree possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose.

Grubbs is currently remanded in the Bucks County Correctional Facility. He is pending a New Jersey Central First Appearance in accordance with the New Jersey Criminal Reform Act.
