Man Robs Bank, Takes A Pen With Him In Camden Co.: Prosecutor

Officers found the man with more than just the cash, authorities said.

STRATFORD, NJ — A man who robbed a Camden County bank, and also came away with a bank pen, was arrested minutes after the heist on Thursday, authorities said.

The incident happened around 11:15 a.m. at PNC Bank in Stratford, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office. James Grady passed a demand note to a bank teller, received cash and fled on foot on the White Horse Pike, authorities said.

Shortly after the robbery was reported to police, officers found a person walking on the White Horse Pike who matched the suspect description, authorities said.

The suspect, who police identified as Grady, was taken into custody. He had stolen money on his person, along with a PNC Bank pen, prosecutors said.

Grady, 39, of Stratford, was charged with second-degree robbery and jailed in the Camden County Correctional Facility.

Attorney information for Grady wasn't immediately available in online court records.

Stratford's police chief lauded the bank employees for their vigilance.

"They remained calm under pressure and immediately contacted law enforcement," said Chief Ronald Morello. "Because of their quick action, our officers were on scene within two minutes and were able to swiftly locate and apprehend the suspect while he was fleeing."
