The canceled show at Lindenwold Park was part of Camden County's Summer Parks Concert Series — a slate of free concerts at the county's parks.
Bavaro was a guitarist for more than 45 years, according to an online bio. He was also an executive board trustee and "dedicated member" of the Jersey Shore Jazz & Blues Foundation, which seeks to promote and preserve the musical genres.
Several commenters shared kind words about Bavaro in the band's announcement of his death.
"He was an amazing guy with incredible talent. The nicest guy ever," one person said. "I will miss his presence and dancing to his awesome guitar playing."
"Jeff was my neighbor for only a few months but we became friends during that brief time and it was readily apparent what a bright light he was to all who knew him," said another commenter.
