NJ's First Veterinary School Approved By Trustees: Report

The Rowan University School of Veterinary Medicine will be the first New Jersey college​​​ to offer a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.

GLASSBORO, NJ — New Jersey's first veterinary medical school took an important step forward as the Rowan University Board of Trustees gave the go-ahead for plans to proceed, a report said.

The School of Veterinary Medicine will be housed in Sewell and become the first New Jersey college to offer a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree.

Rowan's Board of Trustees approved plans for the school to go forward at a Wednesday meeting, according to WOBM. Board documents show the University estimated a $10,000,000 cost for for design services.

The university is planning a 100,000-square-foot facility in Sewell, including "academic classrooms, educational and diagnostic laboratories, a teaching hospital, and administrative and faculty offices."

The school will become official March 1, 2022, with three departments: Clinical Sciences, Diagnostic Medicine & Pathobiology, and Anatomy & Physiology.

Rowan plans to welcome the first class of veterinary students in 2025.
