Reported Assault Sends Cop, Suspect to Hospital

A Gloucester Township man faces multiple charges from the Saturday incident.

A 27-year-old man picked the wrong time to start swinging—his blows allegedly landed on cops and now he faces charges of assault.

Byron Davis, of Morningstar Court in Sicklerville, reportedly struck three officers responding to a dispute. He became so violent, police said, it required several more officers to subdue him and put him under arrest.

At around 4 p.m. Saturday, arrived at a home on Morningstar Court after receiving notice of a dispute there. People on the scene told police Davis had assaulted someone, according to reports.

As officers attempted to talk with Davis, police said he began striking officers—one severely enough that the officer was sent to the hospital briefly before returning later in the day for duty.

Davis, charged with aggravated assault upon a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest and simple assault, was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
