VIDEO: Gloucester Police Sergeant Retires After 25 Years Of Service
A 25-year veteran of the Gloucester Township Police Department is set to retire from the force next month, authorities said.
GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ - A 25-year veteran of the Gloucester Township Police Department is set to retire from the force next month, authorities said.
Sgt. William Rapp will retire as a full-time police officer effective Feb. 1, 2023, the department said in a statement.
“We are grateful for Sgt. Rapp’s dedicated service to the Gloucester Township Police Department and the community, and we wish Bill a long and happy retirement,” the department said in a statement.

Rapp was first hired as a Gloucester Township Police Officer on January 26, 1998, going on to fill many roles including patrol officer, field training officer, K-9 handler of K-9 “Solo” and shift investigator, the department said.
In September 2010, Rapp was appointed to the position of detective, and later served in the Intelligence Services Unit, Special Investigations Unit, and Retail Theft Unit. Rapp was also awarded the Gloucester Township Police Department’s Officer of the Year in 2016.
He was promoted to Sergeant of Police on Sept. 16, 2019 where he served as a Patrol Deputy Platoon Commander.
