Wallaby Missing From Petting Zoo, Spotted Hopping By South Jersey Walmart

Police received multiple reports of the escaped wallaby bouncing around town.

WILLIAMSTOWN, NJ — A wallaby is on the loose in Gloucester County after he escaped Monday night from an animal sanctuary.

"Rex" the wallaby got out of his enclosure at Lots of Love Farm in Williamstown.

Washington Township police received several reports of the animal hopping around the Williamstown Walmart area. They shared a video of Rex hopping around a parking lot.

Lots of Love Farm is actively searching for Rex at this time.

"He is friendly but on the run," the organization said on social media. "If you see him or happen to catch him in a fenced area call the farm @ 856-728-4188.

If you see Rex, do not chase him, police said.

"Stay safe, slow down, and keep an eye out for unexpected wildlife while running errands today!" said the Washington Township Police Department.

A wallaby is like a kangaroo but generally smaller. The marsupials are native to Australia and New Guinea.

Lots of Love Farm is an animal sanctuary with a petting zoo. It is located at 1928 Corkery Lane, Williamstown.
