Weight Limit Lowered on East Atlantic Avenue Bridge

The Camden County Department of Public Works will implement an eight ton weight limit on the East Atlantic Avenue (CR 729) bridge connecting Audubon and Oaklyn Boroughs. The Freeholder Board is in the process of replacing the bridge and will be beginning work in the near future.

“Improving our roadway infrastructure while increasing highway safety is one of the best investments we can make in our county,” said Freeholder Ian Leonard, liaison to the Department of Public Works.

It is anticipated that the bridge replacement project will commence in 2015. The eight ton weight limit restriction will be in place until the bridge is replaced. A detour will be posted for trucks and other vehicles exceeding the weight limit.

“We appreciate the patience and understanding of motorists for any inconvenience they may experience due to delays or detours posted during the improvement project,” Leonard said.
