105 Pounds of Drugs Dropped Off in Hackettstown Take Back

Residents handed in prescription drugs as part of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

The Hackettstown Police Department collected 105 pounds of prescription drugs that were dropped off by residents at the municipal building on Saturday, according to Det. Darren Tynan.

Saturday's event marked the Hackettstown Police Department's participation in the annual National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

During the event, residents are able to anonymously drop off unwanted medicine in a drop box at the municipal building.

Last year's national event brought in 244 tons of prescription drugs throughout the country. The Take Back program was initiated three years ago.
