NJ Woman Run Over By Her Own Car, Then Gets Ticketed

The woman, who didn't realize her vehicle wasn't parked, was run over by the rolling vehicle, police said.

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ - A Hackettstown resident who didn’t realize her vehicle wasn’t properly parked was run over by the vehicle on Monday night, authorities said.

At around 7:28 p.m., the Hackettstown police responded to the intersection of Helms Mill Road and Dalton Road for a report of a struck pedestrian, Hackettstown police said.

An investigation found that the pedestrian, a 61-year-old woman, had exited her 2014 Lincoln when she realized the vehicle wasn’t in park, police said.

As she tried to stop the vehicle from rolling, she fell out of the car, which rolled over her left side, police said.

The 2014 Lincoln continued onto Helms Mill Road, eventually striking a parked 2016 Ford.

The woman suffered serious non-life-threatening injuries and was taken by Independence Township First Aid Squad to Morristown Medical Center, police said.

The woman was issued a summons for having an unregistered vehicle, police added.
