The Enactus Centenary College team was named Regional Champions at the Enactus United States Regional Competition held in New York City last week. This event is one of 10 Regional Competitions being held across the United States in March and April.
“This is a wonderful accomplishment for our Enactus team,” says Professor Kathy Naasz, Associate Professor of Business at Centenary College and Centenary College Enactus Advisor. “Our students have invested countless hours in their projects. The entire campus community is so pleased that they are being recognized in this manner for their hard work. We look forward to competing at the National level next month!”

During this academic year, the Enactus Centenary College team organized six projects in the local, regional and international communities, including the Guapi Hope Leaf Project where artisans in Guapi, Colombia, create a sustainable and profitable business, which will combat the widespread poverty in that country and the Next Step Project, which focuses on mentoring youth in Newark about academic options after high school.

The culmination of the Enactus program is an annual series of competitions that provide a showcase for teams to present the results of their projects and be evaluated by business leaders serving as judges. Teams compete first at the regional and national levels, then at the international level when the national champion teams from each country meet at the Enactus World Cup.
As an Enactus United States Regional Champion, the Enactus Centenary College team now advances to the 2013 Enactus United States Exposition in Kansas City, Missouri, May 21-23.
