Crime Roundup: Three Arrested Last Week In Hackettstown

Two men were arrested on drug charges and another was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ — Three people were arrested between Sunday, Jan. 26, and Friday, Jan. 31, in Hackettstown.

The first arrest was made Jan. 26 just before 1 p.m. in the 500 block of Monroe Street.

In a statment, Hackettstown police said officers were called to the house after someone reported seeing a man hunched over in the back yard of a house. When police arrived, a 28-year-old Nicholas Ferraro, of Wantage, was found unresponsive in the yard, police said in a release Monday.

Police found eight Xanax bars and 11 Subutex pills.

Ferraro was arrested on charges possession of Xanax and Subutex, being under the influence of controlled substances and causing a public alarm. He was released to a family member pending a court appearance.

The second arrest was made on Jan. 29. Police said officers were called to the New Jersey Transit Train Station on Beatty Street after someone reported a disorderly man on the train.

When officers arrived at the station, the man, 32-year-old Noel Nieves of Hackettstown, was found in a bathroom. Police said they found 60 wax folds of suspected heroin, a bag of suspected marijuana and six hypodermic needles.

Police also found a piece of Chore Boy Copper with what is believed to be burned crack cocaine and a broken glass stem with suspected burned crack cocaine.

Nieves was taken to Hackettstown Medical Center for treatment then arrested Friday, Jan. 31, on charges of possession of heroin, possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, possession of hypodermic needle, possession of drug paraphernalia and disrupting public transportation.

He is currently in the Warren County Correctional Facility.

The third arrest was made on a $2,500 Hopatcong Borough municipal court warrant on Jan. 31. Police said 30-year-old Brian Howard, of Randolph Township, was arrested on the outstanding warrant. He posted bail and was released pending a court appearance.
