Erratic Driving Leads To Endangerment Arrest: Hackettstown Police

Brittany Hicks was charged with endangering her three-year-old, police said.

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ - A 26-year-old Phillipsburg woman was charged with driving under the influence, endangering the welfare of a child, being under the influence of synthetic cannabinoids and reckless driving after an incident with police on Tuesday, according to the Hackettstown Police Department.

Authorities said Hackettstown police responded to Route 517 for a report of an erratic motor vehicle and stopped the car on Main Street. The driver, Brittany Hicks, NJ, showed signs of impairment and synthetic cannabinoids (K2/Spice) was found inside the vehicle’s center console, police said.

Through an investigation it was determined Hicks smoked K2 approximately 30 minutes prior to the traffic stop, police said.

Hick’s 3-year-old child was the only passenger in the vehicle. Hicks was transported to Hackettstown Medical Center and the child was turned over to an adult, police said.

Hicks was released pending a court appearance.
