Fred The Goat Captured In Hackettstown

After a year on the run, Fred the Goat has been captured. What do you think?

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ — It was a good year for one Hackettstown goat, but it has officially come to an end: Fred was captured on Tuesday, police said.

Fred made a break for it over a year ago when he was set to go to auction at the Hackettstown Livestock Cooperative Auction Market. Police say he was taken back to the original owner's farm.

Fred captured the hearts of Hackettstown locals, many of whom shared "Fred sightings" on social media. He was even featured in his own News 12 New Jersey segment recently.

He wasn't the only goat to escape from the auction. Earlier this month, dozens of goats, sheep, and piglets escaped from the auction. One is still on the loose, police said.
